Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The aim is to provide students the skills to identify hazards and assess the risks associated with different, mainly high risk activities, defining and planning preventive and protective actions. These competencies include: meet specific hazards and risks of the activities and acquire technical skills to set and implement risk control actions in activities considered of high-risk level.
Syllabus:
Principles and areas of Safety. Causes and consequences of accidents. Control risks associated with: Work area and workplaces; work equipment. Working with special risks. Safety of machinery and equipment, mechanical transport and cargo handbook. Construction safety. Storage, use and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Points 1 and 2: introduces the main fields and the main concepts and definitions of the UC; point 3: to know the causes and consequences of accidents and occupational diseases; points 4-11 to Know contents of specific hazards and risks of the activities and apply techniques or methodologies to define and implement actions to control occupational hazards, in particular, the activities considered of high risk and applicable legislation. The contents allow ability problem solving, communication the solutions and update knowledge on the basis of scientific and technological developments.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The methodology of teaching and learning is expository, interrogative and demonstrative.
The assessment includes written tests evaluation, individual and group pratical work and presentation.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The methodologies used are consistent for the learning objectives, allowing the understanding and application of knowledge acquired in the curricular unit, establish a link between the theoretical knowledge acquired and its application in many practical cases, proposing solutions to solving them and presentation of individual works or group developed.
