Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Anatomophysiology I is a scientific area where basic anatomic and physiologic concepts of several organs and body systems are learned, with special emphasis for those considered important for the degree in Speech Therapy.
Another objective of this curricular area, is to introduce students to the anatomic terminology, and learn concepts about the functionality of organs and systems.
In the end of the teaching period students will be able to understand specific aspects about the constitution and functioning of the organism with special focus to their intervention areas.
Syllabus:
CP1- Cell and tissues histology.
CP2- Nomina anatomica. Craniofacial anatomy. Ear-jaw articulation. Vertebrae and cervical muscles.
CP3 - Upper and lower limbs.
CP4 - Respiratory anatomy. Thoracic chest and diaphragm. Mechanism of gas exchange. Regulation of pulmonary ventilation.
CP5 - Digestive system. Secretion and absorption in the digestive system. Liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Defecation.
CP6 - Cardiovascular system. Heart. Regulation of energy in the heart. The blood vessels.
CP7 - Blood. Types of cells and their functions.
CP8 - Lymphatic system. Constitution and functions. Homeostasis. Concept and regulation. Immunity.
CP9 - Renal and urinary anatomy. Fluid and electrolyte homeostasis.
CP10 - Central and peripheral nervous system. Pathways of the nervous message.
CP11 - Male reproductive system. Sperm and spermatogenesis. Basic anatomy of the female reproductive system. Physiology of pregnancy and childbirth.
CP12 - Hormones. Basic hormonal physiology.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Teaching and structure coherence will be systematically monitored through questions and analysis of topics in the classroom.
Analyzing each of the topics listed from 1 to 10, it‘s easily understood that the proposed topics (CP) are adapted to the learning objectives (AO) and are coherents with the objectives of the licenciature.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The contents will be learned in an expository form, to allow a better understanding of the different themes. In classes there will be a period reserved for student intervention.
Evaluation tests will include multiple-choice questions, legendary figures, true or false typology, and development questions.
Final classification will be the result of the arithmetic mean of the partial classifications obtained in the two previously described components.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
OA1. Learn the basic craniofacial and temporomandibular joint anatomy. OA2.Understand the histological constitution of the most relevant tissues in the organism. OA3.Teach the anatomy of the upper and lower limbs, with relief for basic functional aspects. OA4.Understand respiratory anatomy and physiology and regulation of ventilatory process. OA5. Teach and understand the digestive system, food transport mechanisms, absorption, secretion and excretion. OA6.Understand cardiovascular anatomy and physiology as well as the importance and functionality of the vascular system. OA7.Descrive the constitution of blood and its most relevant functions. OA8.Understand the concept and constitution of the lymphatic system and its importance in homeostasis and immunity. OA9.Describe the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system and how body's fluids and electrolyte are regulated. OA10. Briefly describe the central and peripheral nervous systems and neuronal information transmission mechanisms. OA11.Describe from an anatomical and physiological point of view the male reproductive system and its most relevants functions. OA12. Analyze anatomophysiologically the female reproductive system, and the mechanisms of pregnancy and childbirth. OA12.Teach and understand some concepts about hormones, regulatory mechanisms and importance in body homeostasis.
