Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit: | |||
To provide students with an understanding of the dynamic relationships of the organism's response to the main mechanisms of cellular aggression with clinical aspects and the development of clinical reasoning to understand fundamental concepts in the field of Dental Medicine. | |||
Syllabus: | |||
Pathophysiology, Epidemiology, Semiology and Therapeutic Principles of the following pathologies: Hypertension, Diabetes, Chronic Renal Insufficiency, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Ischaemic Heart Disease, Stroke, Auricular Fibrillation, Allergy, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Viral Hepatitis. Trauma: types, prehospital, hospital and post-hospital approach Neoplasia: Nomenclature (benign and malignant tumors); Characteristics of benign and malignant neoplasms; Basic concepts of TNM staging and classification; Epidemiological study of cancer. | |||
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives: | |||
The construction of the syllabus, by addressing the various systemic pathological processes with correlation to oral pathology, through theoretical and theoretical-practical information of the topics covered and use of appropriate teaching resources such as discussion of clinical cases, is adjusted to the learning process of the curricular unit of General Pathology in the curricular plan of Dental Medicine. | |||
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation): | |||
The CT consists of lectures of 60 minutes, addressing the different topics defined in the syllabus. The CTP, structured in articulation with the theoretical component consists of weekly lessons of 90 minutes. It consists of tutorial teaching open to the participation of students. Distance learning will include synchronous and asynchronous sessions. The evaluation model is continuous. In CT there will be 2 tests throughout the semester on the syllabus, whose average defines the grade for CT. The CTP evaluation takes into consideration: assiduity, punctuality, attitude, semester report and group work presentation. It also consists of a written test (b). Weights are: 50% (a)+50% (b), and the score must be equal or higher than 10 points The final classification of the UC will be obtained by CT (50%) + CTP (50%). This will be a 0-20 note. The student is considered "Approved" with a classification equal or superior to 10 points. | |||
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes: | |||
The teaching methodology focused on theoretical and theoretical-practical information of the topics covered, including the use of appropriate teaching resources, is properly suited to the learning process of the discipline of General Pathology in the curricular plan of Dentistry. The theoretical concepts covered and discussed in CT are complemented and contextualized through discussion and presentation of clinical cases in CTP, illustrative of the various topics included in the syllabus. This methodology aims the assimilation and progressive construction of theoretical and practical knowledge encouraging critical and autonomous thinking of the student. | |||
