Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
To have knowledge about current behaviors and needs of the elderly.
Know how to work with the elderly in different social contexts.
To acquire relationship skills with the elderly.
Interact with those responsible for accompanying the elderly.
Know and apply processes of monitoring the elderly.
Train users of equipment to support the monitoring and monitoring of the elderly.
Syllabus:
I. To accompany the elderly in different contexts.
1.1. In the community.
1.2. In hospitals and other institutions
1.3. In the residential contexto
II. Remote monitoring and prevention of info-exclusion of the elderly
1.1. Request for help for use at home and abroad.
1.2. Sending and receiving alerts via written messages and / or voice messages.
1.3. Fall detection.
1.4. Exact location of the equipment / person via GPS
1.5. Monitoring of vital signs of the elderly.
1.6. Digital social network
1.7. Control center.
1.8. Virtual living room
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The syllabus allows students to provide the necessary knowledge about the behaviors and needs of the elderly as well as to know how to act with them.
In addition, the demonstration and test on the processes of monitoring and accompanying the elderly, reflecting on the advantages of the current technologies in the life of the elderly.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
It is used the expository, interrogative method as well as the analysis and discussion of practical cases. The Assessment consists in the accomplishment of 1 theoretical frequency and 1 group work presented in the classroom.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The proposed methodologies allow the sensitization to the monitoring and surveillance function of the elderly. Communication, active participation of students and analysis of clinical situations are a strategy used for learning.
