Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This knowledge of the pathological response of the human organism to the various mechanisms of aggression and pathological cell response that characterizes the disease state. Thus, it seeks to provide students with a better understanding of the dynamic relationships with the clinical aspects and the development of clinical reasoning within the area.
Syllabus:
Introduction to the study of Pathophysiology. general concepts
Mechanisms of cell damage
Types of cell damage: adaptive reactions degeneracies
Irreversible injuries: necrosis and apoptosis
neoplasia
vascular injury
Acute and chronic inflammation
Regeneration, repair
immunity
Pathophysiological mechanisms: Type I responses, II, III, IV and V
Congenital and acquired immunodeficiency
anaphylaxis
Blood pathophysiology
cardiovascular pathophysiology
respiratory pathophysiology

endocrine pathophysiology
pathophysiology CNS
Osteoporosis Pathophysiology
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The syllabus of the course Human physiopathology provide students of Pharmaceutical Sciences the acquisition of scientific, technical and interpersonal skills allowing knowledge about the most prevalent pathologies.
The knowledge of the physiopatology allows a better understanding of the disease and becomes a substrate for understanding the treatment of prevailing syndromes from the pharmacist point of view.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Pedagogic execution : (i) presentation and discussion of relevant theoretical concepts in the classroom; (ii) orientation of the self-study of students by consulting the recommended bibliography and to solve the exercises; (iii) discussion and consideration of relevant issues related to exposed matter and (iv) of relevant clinical cases discussion.
Continuous assessment which consists in two written tests in the theoretical component (80% of the final grade), a working group (10% of the final grade) and student achievement (10% of the final grade).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The syllabus of the course Human physiopathology provide students of Pharmaceutical Sciences the acquisition of scientific, technical and interpersonal skills allowing knowledge about the most prevalent pathologies.
