Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This curricular unit aims to give a conceptual, interdisciplinar and global framework, searching for development of knowledge, capacities and competencies on the Psychosociology of Work domain, in a organizational context.
Skills/Competences to develop:
(i) Analyze and integrate psychosocial factors in the work analysis;
(ii) Organize, plan, and and implement psychology intervention strategies in working systems
(iii) Select appropriate methods and techniques of evaluating human behaviour at work
(iv) Apply psychosocial diagnosis in working contexts
(v) Ability to communicate on interpersonal and intergroup situations
(vi) Demonstrate an attitude of self-research and development-oriented
Syllabus:
1st Unit - Introduction. 1. Work and Organizational Psychology: historical background of the theoretical and practical frame of contemporary work and organization psychology. 1.1. Industrial society development. 1.2. Work organizations processes 1.3. Work and organizational psychology project: knowledge paradigms
2nd Unit – 2. Contemporary Work and Organizational Psychology: relations and evolution. 2.1. From psychological science to the work psychology. 2.2. The study of Man at work: elements of analysis and reflection. 2.3. Processes of analysis at organizations. 2.4. Research methods and techniques
3st Unit – 3. Approaches and applications to working contexts. 3.1. Management of human resources. 3.2. Promotion and prevention of safety and health at work. 3.3. Processes of analysis- individual and group - in the organizations
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
1st unit - Syllabus contents focus on specific theoretical issues in the area of work and organizational psychology, thus meeting course objectives, namely: to understand and integrate concepts, models and theories of the conceptual framework of work and organizational psychology.
2st unit - Syllabus contents focus on specific theoretical and practical issues in the area of work and organizational psychology, meeting of the course objectives, namely: to integrate knowledge, abilities and skills leading up to technical and ethical conduct; to demonstrate knowledge and skills in performing tasks in human behavior analysis at work;
3nd unit - Syllabus contents focus on the practical application of models, theories in the area of work and organizational psychology, namely: to select and apply methods and techniques appropriate to interface human-work assessment; to show autonomy and responsible conduct in professional practice.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Teaching methodology will include theoretical lecturing, research, reading and discussion of specific references, as well as thematic debates and critical reflection. Assessment will be continuous and based on an assessment test and a practical essay with an oral presentation and discussion, as well as the execution of theoretical and practical tasks in the classroom, including students’ participation.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
1st unit - Theoretical exposition of contents related to this study area; presentation and handling of materials used in work, organizational psychology; Individual and group debate of cases illustrating different problems that may potentially emerge in work psychology constitute work psychology requests; Demonstrations; Practice exercises aimed at demonstrating knowledge and skills in understanding the specificity of intervention in the domain of work/occupational and organizational psychology 2st unit – Theoretical exposition of contents related to this study area; Presentation and handling of materials used in work, organizational psychology; Case studies debates on the interface Human/work activity evaluation and intervention (individual level, group level, organization level); Individual and group debate of cases illustrating different problems of managing and developing individuals at the workplace; Demonstrations; Practical exercises with the aim of demonstrating knowledge and skills in performing tasks in the psychology/work interface; to master the main techniques and methodologies used in work psychological assessment; 3nd unit - Theoretical exposition of contents for each area of expert assessment; Presentation of real cases; Handling of materials used in the human behavior assessment on each domain of application; Individual and group execution of expert assessments for each case; simulation of techniques of individual and group assessment; to show skills of select and apply methods and techniques appropriate to the interface human-work assessment and intervention; to show autonomy and responsible conduct in professional practice.
