Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
LO1. To introduce the student to the core areas of cognition
LO2. To describe and to explain the cognitive concepts: attention, problem solving, reasoning, judgment and decision makingand language, problem solving, reasoning, judgment and decision making
LO3. To describe and to explain the cognitive language, namelly the theories of language development, the acquisition and processing and language disorders.

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Unit I. Human Cognition
Acquisition and integration of knowledge allowing the Human Cognition and mental representations; Acquisition and development of skills of analysis, synthesis and integration of methods, techniques, concepts, models, theories and knowledge of the main specialities, domains and intervention contexts of Cognitive Psychology.
Unit II. Language
Knowing some basic cognitive processes of the Cognitive Psychology. Acquisition and development of skills of analysis, synthesis and integration of methods, techniques, concepts, models, theories and knowledge of the main specialities, domains and intervention contexts of Cognitive Psychology.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Teaching methodology will include lecture and tutorial lecturing, research, reading and discussion of specific references in cognitive psychology, as well as thematic debating and critical reflection. A System of continuous assessment: 2 written tests, duration of 90 minutes each with a weighting of 40%, total weight of just 80%; practical work, writing and respective presentation and discussion in class, focusing on a thematic inherent to the programmatic contents: weighting of 20%.
