The discipline program aims to provide a range of knowledge that allows students and future professionals the best patient care
Acquisition, development and deepening of the latest knowledge in psychopharmacology
Integration of concepts, models and theories related to research, and pharmacological intervention

Study of the main drugs with action in the CNS and their role in the treatment of some pathologies with interest in psychology
Improve understanding of therapeutic prescription in different clinical situations
Develop a critical attitude on the treatment of the main pathologies of the psychology area
Syllabus:
General Pharmacology- Basic Concepts; PharmacoKinetics: General cycle of drugs in the body; Routes of drug administration; Pharmacodinamics- General mechanisms of action of drugs
Drugs with action on the Central Nervous System
Drugs of Abuse- Notion of Drug Addiction
Psychotropic drugs
Antipsychotics agentes
Antiseuzures drugs
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The theoretical program aims to provide general and specific knowledge of the drugs most used in in psicology, including its mechanism of action, its therapeutic and adverse effects, drug interactions and their limitations
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Theoretical exposition of programmatic contents with discussion of the themes presented
Presentation of clinical cases related to the subject exposed in the classroom with discussion and critical reflections
The assessment of the unit is based in 2 written tests (50% each): 2 multiple response tests and with quick answer questions. The tests will be performed in the normal hours of the theoretical classes and will focus on the program content taught in the classes until the time of the test
The student will be considered approved to the course if grade = or > 9.5 val
If the student obtains an average < 9.5 val can take the final test (multiple and written response) that focuses on the entire program of the discipline
The disapproval refers the student to the Appeal exam : at multiple response test and with quick answer questions
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this curricular unit, students should have acquired knowledge about drugs in order to understand their use in the treatment of various clinical situations
