Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
a) Identify the functions and skills of the speech therapist
b) Describe the concepts associated to human communication and its disorders
c) Use strategies to facilitate human communication applicable in a real work setting
Syllabus:
CP1. Speech therapy: scope of practice; target populations and workplaces
CP2. Human communication and its disorders: developmental process and aging (normal and pathological); developmental disorders; language and aphasia; speech, voice and dysarthria; swallowing and dysphagia; cognition and dementia in communication; augmentative and alternative communication.
CP3. Strategies facilitating communication with individuals with communication disorders
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The correspondence between the contents and the above-mentioned learning objectives is established: a-CP1; b-CP2; c-CP3.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Expositive, interrogative and demonstrative method
Assessment through a written test and a practical work (50%+50%)
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
Through the exposition of theoretical content supported by practical examples, knowledge is transmitted to enable the student to deal with human communication disorders in a real work setting.
