Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Confer the students the ability to:

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
By CP:
1. Introduce the concept of “Economic Problem” and understand Economics as Science, based on its underlying terminology, models and hypotheses. Differentiate Macro from Microeconomics.
2. The demand and supply model approach is intended as an example of supporting business decisions in economic theory with the aim of looking for a consistent analytical framework that identifies the causal relationships between decisions and outcomes and allows us to predict under what circumstances. a given decision produces a given result.
3. Applications and case studies of points 1 and 2.
4. Understand the historical evolution to reach the current situation of the NHS.
5. Understand the forms of health financing in Portugal, identify their gaps and future challenges. Seek efficiency and effectiveness in resource allocation.
6. Interpret the Organizational Strategy models approached, using the various factors that influence the strategy in health organizations.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
M1. The exhibition of essential theoretical concepts is done using examples to better understand concepts application. These resources are all made available to the students.
M2. The assessment is continuous and requires two tests:
- the first one is about CP1, CP2, and CP3 (with a weight of 50%);
- the second is about CP4, CP5, and CP6 (with a weight of 50%).
The absence in an assessment moment counts as a grade of 0. The student will be approved to the module if the final grade is equal to or higher than 9.5, otherwise, the student will be sent to the exam season.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
Given the essentially theoretical nature of the discipline content the emphasis is placed on theoretical exposure with analysis and discussion of the theoretical and practical aspects addressed.
