Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Identify the role of entities and professionals involved in the prevention and control of infection: guidelines, measures and recommendations.
.Identify the legal framework associated with infection control.
. Identify the concepts of disease, infection and infectious disease.
. Identify risk situations that enhance the infection associated with different care settings.
.Identify the typology and use/functionality of different personal protective equipment.
. Identify the basic precautions to take with uniform cleaning, vaccination and personal hygiene care.
. Explain that the healthcare professional could be a potential host and/or vector of infection.
. Identify the basic precautions to take when transporting users.
.Identify the basic precautions to take when transporting biological samples.
Syllabus:
1.Principles of infection prevention and control, measures and recommendations
-National Program for the Prevention and Control of Infection Associated with Health Care
-The role of infection control committees in health facilities
Legal framework for infection control / DGS
2. Basic concepts associated with infection and risk situations that enhance the infection
- Health care-associated infection IAC's / context in the provision of care at the Hospital
- Health care-associated infection acquired in the community.
3. Exposure to biological risk
-Biological agent concept
-Prevention of exposure to biological risk
-Tuberculosis
-Hepatitis A, B and C
- HIV
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Given the essentially theoretical-practical and practical nature of the subject, exposure to analysis and theoretical-practical discussion of the aspects addressed is privileged, duly adequate to this course unit's learning process in the Health Service Aid course.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Oral explanation of the contents with the support of audiovisual media.
Call for active participation by students, through an interrogative methodology.
Resolution of exercises.
The evaluation will be continuous, based on the realization of theoretical-practical work (50%), and the presentation and oral discussion of this work (50%).
The student will be approved to the curricular unit if the final classification is equal to or higher than 9.5 values; otherwise, it will be sent to the exam period at the end of the semester.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The teaching methodology centered on theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical information on the topics covered, including appropriate didactic resources. Thus, the combination of an expository methodology using examples and practical cases, result in a better understanding of the concepts and help students to achieve the objectives proposed for the Course Unit, thus being adequately adapted to the learning process of the discipline Hygiene and Safety in Health Institutions in the curriculum of this CTSP.
