Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The course aims to provide skills related with the performance of Audits on the scope of an Integrated Management System (Quality, Environment, Health and Safety and Social Responsibility). The students are expected to develop skills regarding: the recognition of the importance and the advantages of the integration of Management Systems; the identification of the main mechanisms for the integration of Management Systems regarding Quality, Environment and Health and Safety and the compatibilities with other Management Systems.
Syllabus:
Integration of Management Systems: advantages and methodologies for its implementation. Integrated Management Systems Audit: relevance of auditing; audit methodologies according to the ISO 19011 standard
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
This course aims to provide skills related with the performance of Audits on the scope of an Integrated Management System (Quality, Environment, Health and Safety and Social Responsibility).
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The teaching methodologies are mainly expositive, interrogative and demonstrative, both during classes and tutorial orientation sessions. Case-studies are frequently used, in order to allow the interpretation and correct application of theoretical knowledge. Students are encouraged and oriented to perform research essays. Whenever possible, lectures with external guests are promoted.
The evaluation is continuous, through the practical application of knowledge in individual or group assignments, and research essays.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The teaching methodologies of this curricular unit were planned in order to enhance the practical applicability of the theoretical concepts transmitted. It is aimed to enhance students’ ability to identify adequate operational practices regarding environmental management, and to make them aware of their active contribution regarding these practices. According to this, it is believed that learning methodologies like lectures with external guests, and case-studies, together with study orientation practices, will enable the students to understand the relevance of these subjects in the practice of organizational management, as well as the relevance of their role in this scope.
