Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This course presents the main aspects of corporate knowledge management (KM). To fit KM with the strategic goals of the organisation, and with the organisational information system. Discuss the knowledge resource within the context of its use and exploration by integrating digital systems and human resources.
Syllabus:
Knowledge management foundation; Information and knowledge society; Types of Organisational Knowledge; KM practice in organisations; Organisation memory; learning organisations; communities of practice; Intranets and corporate portals; Human Resources digital platforms; Skills Taxonomies; Management Systems Skills.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The presented syllabus covers the broad areas and topics related with the knowledge management taking into account the information society issues and its impact both to individuals and organizations. It is proposed the study of the theme in a perspective that support the creation efforts of digital platforms to supports knowledge management taking advantage of the digital.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The methodology of teaching and learning is expository, interrogative and demonstrative. Drawing on problem solving and study geared to allow the interpretation of fundamental principles of knowledge management.
The evaluation of the theoretical component includes:
• One written test evaluation.
• Student performance, including attendance, resolution of proposed problems and active participation in classes.
The practical assessment comprises two components:
• Literature review and analysis in the KM domain. Essay development
• Essay presentation and discussion
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The proposed methodologies are consistent with the objectives set for the course since they rely on the interpretation of the theory and practical application of the knowledge management aspects studied, establishing a parallel between the theory and the practice applied to real organizational problems, and fit them in computer science, and software engineering domains.
