Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
In the end of the Operations Research (OR) course students must demonstrate several competences such as: formulate a Linear Programming (LP) Model. Solve LP Problems with the Graphical Method. Solve LP Problems with the Simplex Method. Understand Duality.
Syllabus:
Origin, propose and methodology in Operations Research. Formulating a Linear Programming (LP) Model. Solving LP Problems with the Graphical Method. Solving LP Problems with the Simplex Method. Duality in LP.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Ways to optimize practical problems are addresses, seeking greater operability and saving resources and means in order to achieve the best goals of faster and more efficiency. The different approaches to linear programming (graphical, simplex and duality) are themselves ways to streamline the methodology used to achieve the proposed objectives.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The methodology of teaching and learning of this course is essentially practical, involving practical exercises during classes and sessions of orientation of the study. The main objective is to enable to correctly interpret and apply the theoretical knowledge to real situations.
The evaluation of this course takes place continuously for the classes, with tests.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The methodologies of teaching and learning of this course were programmed to enhance the practical application of learned theoretical concepts. It is primarily intended for students to be able to solve practical problems involving optimization, through linear programming.
