Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This discipline analyses the intimate relationship between ecosystem and public health. It also describes how pollutants can alter the environment and people by contributing to global climate change. Impact of climate global changes in natural resources and human activities is also described. How the loss of biodiversities and invasive species can alter natural ecosystems and human health. Inadequate access to drinking water and human diseases is discussed. The need of new waste water technology and new emergent pollutants is emphasized. Ultimately, it explores how ecological approaches could
Syllabus:
Ecological theories: historical perspective, models and approaches. Concept and assessment of the ecosystem health. Effect of loss of biodiversity and invasive species in human health. Effect of climate changes in water resources. Drinking water treatment, quality and safeguarding. Waste water treatment and human pharmaceutical pollutants. Ecosystem health and public health concerns. From ecology towards human health. Challenges, opportunities and future directions.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
