Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This course aims to give students the basic notions on the management of projects and enterprises, as well as the tools associated with this management. It is intended to address practical issues related to the management to enable a better approach of young engineers and architects to the practices of construction, integrating knowledge from other disciplines.
Students should be able to organize and manage a project team; coordinate project management and developments in its different phases; to provide appropriate planning and control of project teams and the implementation of a development.
Syllabus:
Introduction to Project Management; Concepts and its management; Project manager functions; Risk management; Project management and organizational structure;The Project Manager. Establishment of the Project Team; Leadearship. The Stages of Project: Viability Analysis, Strategy, Fore-Building, Building, Reception and Occupancy. Computing Applied to Project.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The syllabus contents presented aim to develop skills and promote the use of different research tools that will allow students an adequate integration in project management teams and to understand the different tasks he will have to perform during the project life cycle, in order to develop strategies and approaches to civil engineering and architecture projects. To achieve these aims we develop concepts and variables in project management, the set of the project manager functions and its integration in the organizational structure. Other important concepts concern the stages of the project, including viability analysis, strategy, fore-Building, execution, reception and occupancy. It is also used computing applied to project for resources planning and adjustment.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Continuous evaluation - This unit is based in theoretical and practical lectures about different contents in the syllabus presenting different working tools, calculation methods and control techniques, and its appliance in simulation exercises focused on project management problems. The student will be able to carry out tasks in the project management field and to organize and coordinate adequate work teams. Software tools are also used namely to the development of the practical work on planning and control in real situations.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The proposed methodologies are consistent with the objectives set for the course because of the study support the development-oriented, seeking to establish a parallelism between the theory and practice applied to real problems that enable the student to develop its activity as an architect dominating key a issues associated with construction management, integrating knowledge of subjects taught previously and solving practical problems of management and coordination of project teams, using different control instruments and planning techniques.
