Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Allow all Civil Engineering students to be familiarized with the needed knowledge and procedures used in design practice (in small and medium scale studies)in the area of Urban Hydraulics (Water supply systems and Wastewater drainage systems).
Information and understanding of normative and construction techniques.
Syllabus:
1. Urban Hydraulics. Water Supply Systems. Drainage Systems.
2. Pipes. Accessories.
3. Project Data Determination. Consumptions. Demands. Inflow, Outflow.
4. Water Supply Systems. Pipes. Reservoirs. Water Distribution Systems
5. Wastewater Drainage Systems.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The Syllabus presented covers the essential areas of knowledge and confirm the intended coherence to achieve the learning objectives previously formulated.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Expository, descriptive and demonstrative methodology using the resolution of case studies, adapted to the different sub-systems: transport network, reservoirs, distribution network and drainage networks.
Evaluation method: Two written proofs (10+10/20) in the two last sessions of the class.
Time for each proof (2 hours).
Special Season: Written proof (20/20)
Time for the proof (2 hours and 30 minutes).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The proposed methodologies are consistent with the goals formulated for the course, using complete case studies, supported with development-oriented tutorial, with the aim of allowing the students to get the skills to perform the required procedures in design tasks in this area of Civil Engineering. The performing of these tasks is made creating the ambient of an office, challenging the students to act as the designer of water supply and wastewater networks project.
