Curricular Unit:Code:
Digital Tools145FDIG
Year:Level:Course:Credits:
4MasterArchitecture and Urbanism4 ects
Learning Period:Language of Instruction:Total Hours:
Portuguese/English52
Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The subject of Digital Tools, under the fourth year, has as objectives that students acquire skills - are able to:
- In the digital environment, build complex geometric shapes from various methods.
- In the digital environment, globally communicate the architectural design;
- Know how to articulate the various tools and techniques available, using the most appropriate to the process phase and objectives at issue to the development and communication of an architectural project;
- Design and build advanced three-dimensional models that allow the realization of virtual images and their post-production,
- To frame the concepts and proposals in imaginary environments and realities, aiming for final communication of an architectural project;
- Enhance the use of digital applications such as monitoring the act of architectural design tools from concept to the end of the project process.
Syllabus:
The syllabus of Digital Tools, transversal to the set of exercises (worksheets) during the semester, aims to provide the student with the tools to resort to digital media as a support to the entire process of thinking and communicating project.
1 - Advanced modeling in BIM environment;
Free solid forms - morph tool
Membranes
Curtain walls
2 - parametric modeling
Algorithm - definition and introduction
Basic operations with simple elements
Operations with membranes and solids
parametric logics
Articulation with BIM
3 – Information in BIM environment
Lists and schedules
Project maps
File import and export
4 – Architectural Design Communication
Advanced rendering
Image post production
Graphical composition and communication – portfolio and presentation panels
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Implementation of the program is achieved by undertaking theoretical exercises and practical exercises - worksheets - designed to promote complementarity and simultaneity of the various syllabus.
The communication and formalization of the exercises will be done presentially, in the classroom, and not face shape, out of the contact hours. The proposed registry vehicle and work submission will be the e-learning platform, which could also serve as a communication vehicle. The e-mail and the teacher's attendance hours also function as a monitoring element of the development of the exercises.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Assessment is continuous, where the knowledge and skills acquired by the student will be summarized in graphical, written and oral presentation, as well as in the presentation / debate concerning two stages of evaluation on dates to schedule.
The evaluation method of the course is based on continuous assessment model and comprises three components:
The practical component consists of two exercises with different weights in the final grade. 75%. exercises: PUR - city pavilion and Project Communication - Panel + portfolio.
The theoretical component is assessed based on a written test. 20%.
The posture of the student before the class and the quality of their participation in class will be assessed aspects to qualify the overall performance of the student. 5%.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
Theoretical knowledge will be provided through lectures and expository monitored classes held in the computer laboratories of the UFP, where students follow on their machines the teaching of procedures. The practical sessions allow you to test and apply autonomously the exercises introduced in theoretical and practical components and take place in a tutorial exposure regimen methodology, techniques and tools of computer programs consistent with each module, from concrete situations based on actual and paradigmatic architectural pieces. 1 - Advanced modeling in BIM environment 1.5 ECTS 2 - Parametric Modelling 1.5 ECTS 3 - Post-production 0.5 ECTS image 4 - Design Communication 0.5 ECTS
