Learning Period:Language of Instruction:Total Hours:
Spring SemesterPortuguese/English78
Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This curricular unit aims to:
- Allow students to develop an effective synergy between architecture and engineering specialties;
- Coordinate the project so that in the end it is a whole and not the sum of several projects carried out individually;
- Interpret and analyze the architectural design and each engineering specialty project;
- Implement, through simulated practice, the environment of a project office in which engineering specialty projects and architectural design are executed;
Upon successfully completing this course, students should be able to:
1. Interpret architectural projects and building engineering specialties;
2. Analyze architectural projects and building engineering specialties;
3. Design architecture and building engineering specialties;
4. Coordinate architectural projects and engineering specialties with each other.
Syllabus:
1 The Role of Specialties in the Global Project
1.1 Types of projects
1.2 Project content
1.3 Legal requirements
1.4 The synergy of the various specialties with the architectural project.
2 The coordination of the design team and aspects of articulation
2.1 Main aspects of articulation between the various projects
2.2 Detailing of Architecture as an aid to the development of Engineering Specialties
3 Elements needed for project execution
3.1 Survey and urban rules
3.2 Geotechnical studies
3.3 Technical characterization of Public Infrastructures
3.4 Climate Characterization
3.5 Noise Maps
4 Interpretation, analysis and execution of projects in the specialties of:
4.1 Stability
4.2. Fire Safety
4.3 Natural ventilation
4.4 Building water supply network
4.5 Wastewater network
4.6 Rainwater network
4.7 Acoustic Behavior
4.8 Thermal Behavior
4.9 Gas.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
- Points 1 and 2 of the syllabus allow students to develop an effective synergy between architecture and engineering specialties;
- Point 2 of the syllabus allows to coordinate the project so that in the end it is a whole and not the sum of several projects carried out individually;
- Point 4 of the syllabus allows to interpret and analyze the architectural design and each engineering specialty project;
- Point 3 and 4 of the syllabus allow to implement, through simulated practice, the environment of a project office in which the projects of engineering specialties and architectural design are carried out.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Teaching methodologies: Simulation of the functioning of a project office; presentation and explanation of projects already carried out, development of building projects; production of all the necessary documentation to include, in the design of a building, study visits.
Evaluation system: The final grade (NF) is obtained by the following formula:
NF = 0.10 x A + 0.2 x B + 0.10 x C + 0.2 x D + 0.25 x E + 0.15 x F
Where: A - Student performance; B - Quality of the descriptive memory / s and justification / s for which each is responsible; C - Quality and coordination of projects regarding interim deliveries; D - Quality and coordination of projects regarding final delivery; E - Defense of projects through oral exam; F - Written test.
- Learning outcomes 1 and 2 are assessed by components A, E and F;
- Learning result 3 is evaluated by components B, C, D and E;
- Learning result 4 is assessed by components C, D, E and F.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
- Learning outcomes 1 and 2 are achieved through the presentation and explanation of projects already carried out; - Learning result 3 is achieved by simulating the functioning of a project office, by developing building projects and by producing all the necessary documentation to include in the design of a building. - The learning result 4 is achieved by simulating the functioning of a project office and by the study visit.
