Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
LG1. Enhance knowledge of the concepts inherent to the importance of voice in human communication
LG2. Enhance knowledge about the mechanisms of voice and language, language disorders associated with laryngeal pathologies, disturbances of articulation and resonance problems.
LG3.Understand several pathologies of neurological motor nature with implications in voice and language as well as alternative communication forms in patients without larynx.
LG4. Increase knowledge about Augmentative and Alternative Communication as a tool for intervention in Language and Communication Disorders.
Syllabus:
PC1. Voice and Human Communication: conceptual definition, communication theories, ontogenic voice development. Risk factors for vocal health.
PC2. Voice and Vocal Technique: vocal habilitation and improvement. Analyzes and discussion of videos.
PC3. Voice and Human Communication: Brief description of the anatomical and physiological circuits of human language. Some details of cases of laryngeal pathology and conditions associated with articulatory deficits and others with implications in resonance. Few notes about the neurological diseases with implications in contexts of language. Verbal communication in patients without larynx. Esophageal and prosthetic voice in laryngectomy patients.
PC4. Augmentative and Alternative Communication as a tool for intervention in Language and Communication Disorders: concepts and contributions.

The Programmatic Contents (PC) were delineated in terms of Learning Goals (LG) of the unit, for students be able to develop skills that enable them to deepen knowledge as well as analyze and reflect critically about the different language and human communication disorders in clinical context. In this way:

Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The methodology used in seminars allows students to obtain deepen knowledge as well as a better understanding and ability to discuss the content covered, promoting concept integration, ability to research, analysis and critical thinking. Thus, it is considered that teaching methodologies adopted for this course are consistent with the goals set for it, since they allow increase knowledge of the content covered in lectures, where students have the ability to analyze, discuss and reflect what is relevant relating to the discussed topics.
