Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
This course was designed considering the knowledge and skills needed to plan and develop a doctoral thesis. The syllabus contents are structured in 4 study units (S), defined from the 3 learning outcomes (LO) previously established. There is a perfect coherence and correspondence between the syllabus and the learning outcomes, namely:
S1 – LO2;
S2 – LO1, LO2;
S3 – LO2;
S4 – LO3.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
During contact hours, the following teaching methodologies will be used: expository, participatory and active. The non-contact hours are dedicated to student’s autonomous work.
In order to obtain the ECTS credits of this curricular unit, in the continuous evaluation, the student must guarantee the minimum attendance and have a positive performance in the following elements: active participation during classes and oral presentation (public presentation).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The adopted teaching methodologies are aligned with the learning outcomes (LO) defined for this curricular unit, aiming for the actualization and development of knowledge and skills training in scientific research. In this context, the articulation of expository methodology, that will allow the theoretical presentation and the development of the syllabus, with more practical methodologies, like critical discussions of the subjects, projects’/reports’ analysis, simulations (literature reviews) and oral presentations (guided thematic debates). This articulation will encourage active learning in order to obtain a deeper understanding of the topics under study, as well as the integration of theory with practice. The non-contact hours will be devoted to the students’ autonomous work, encompassing the reading of the recommended bibliography and the conduction of the proposed activities, expected to promote the consolidation and application of their knowledge and the development of their skills and competencies in this field. This consistency between the LO and the teaching methodologies adopted is achieved as follows: LO1 – Expository, participative and active methods; LO2 and LO3 – Participative and active methods.
