| Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit: | |||
| The objective is to develop a technical-scientific work, with an original contribution, in the domain of Dentistry. It involves the preparation and writing of a thesis, with rigorous technical and scientific standards. The thesis will be subject to public final examination. The thesis's subject, content and organization will be defined under the supervision of the thesis advisor(s). The course aims at developing the following skills: Capability of information management; Capability of planning and organisation; Ability to understand the language of experts from other fields; Ability to communicate with persons that are not experts in the field; Ability of doing research work; Ability in analysis and synthesis; Ability to formulate and solve problems; Capability of critical thinking; Capability of autonomous learning, of doing research, of oral communication and writing. Capability of innovative entrepreneurship; Capability to adapt to new situations. | |||

| 1-Rules for organising the dissertation (Manual of style of writing scientific documents of the University Fernando Pessoa). 2-Scientific communication: preparation of a scientific paper or thesis & preparation of an oral presentation of the work. 3-Research writing and presentation. | |||

| Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation): | |||
| Teaching methodologies will include presentation and debate of theoretical relevant concepts, as well as guidance of students' autonomous study, through recommended bibliography. Brainstorming about pertinent questions related to syllabus contents will be encouraged. Evaluation will be fulfilled through the thesis (written thesis) and its public defence, accounting for 100% of the CU final classification. | |||

| Teaching methodologies (theoretical presentations, debates and guidance of self-study) are fully consistent with the curricular unit outcomes.
