Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
It intends to introduce and to develop statistic analysis knowledge techniques, presenting pertinent examples and practical situations in order to demonstrate the concepts. The principal objective is to build solid knowledge and to develop the student critic spirit.
Syllabus:
Research methodology; Research problem and objectives; Bibliographic research; Qualitative research; Hypothesis and variables; Research design (types of studies); Data collection techniques; Writing and research presentation; Basic methodology of data analysis and its interpretation; Oral medicine based evidence. Scientific research suport systems. Ethics in scientific research.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The selected programatic contents are those needed to develop a scientific research and/or produce a master thesis.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Periodic evaluation with one test + dissertation and public presentation. The final evaluation will be expressed through a classification in the entire numerical scale of 0 the 20, in which the test has a weight of 30% and the dissertation and public presentation 70%. The lack of attendance to one or more evaluation tests implies the classifica of zero for the purpose of calculation of the final classification and the non attribution of the ECTS situation that implies the evaluation through an examination The minimum percentage of frequency in the theoretical, theoretical-practical and pratical lessons of this subject is the minimal demanded according to regimen of the contact hours considered in the UFP Pedagogical Regulation. The dates of the evaluation test will be marked at the beginning of the semester. The pupils who in continuous evaluation present a final classification inferior to 9.5 values are considered non-approved and do have to carry a final examination.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
Classes focus on active and participative methods with a view to a practical application of the critical contents covered during the lessons. The application will be observed in the production of a thesis and its public presentation.
