Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit: | |||
This curricular unit intends to reinforce the knowledge for the participation and realization of research projects, as well as the dissemination of scientific information, and to constitute a basic tool for the planning of the dissertation: 1. To understand the development of a research strategy, based on a problem and in a hypothesis. 2. To understand of the importance of developing ethical scientific conduct and to be aware of ethical issues concerning human biomedical studies and animal studies, or in in vitro studies. 3. To be capable of conducting a comprehensive bibliographic search and to correctly manage scientific references. 4. To develop good scientific communication skills, both orally and in writing. 5. To understand statistical analysis techniques, through practical examples and situations. 6. To build a solid base in data treatment, in order to effectively handle experimental data. 7. To develop student's critical thinking. | |||

The syllabus is coherent with the suggested learning outcomes. Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation): | |||
Teaching methodologies will include presentation and debate/brainstorming of theoretical relevant concepts, as well as guidance of students' autonomous study, through recommended bibliography. Data analysis will be addressed with relation to the Master’ topics. Evaluation will include a written test accounting for 100% of the CU final classification. An additional that can add up to a maximum of 1val (send info to the prof): - If the theme/adviser of the dissertation is validated until day 8/DEC/2019, 1 value is added to the classification obtained in the test (max. classif. of 20val); - If it is validated in the period between 9/Dec/2019-10/Jan/2020, 0.5val are added. Students who, in evaluation in the written test during the academic semester , present a final classification <9.5 values are considered not approved and have the right to have an exam of the entire syllabus of the curricular unit, on a date to be set by the UFP. You should consult the UFP pedagogical regulation. | |||
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes: | |||
The test will be important to assess individual knowledge, allowing to confirm the fulfillment of the proposed objectives. The beginning of the Preparation of the thesis writing (Scientific article) that will continue during the second semester in the UC dissertation) will contribute to stimulate scientific curiosity, to promote the learning of bibliographic research and reference management, and to train scientific communication skills. Teaching methodologies (theoretical presentations, debates and guidance of self-study) are fully consistent with the curricular unit outcomes.
