Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Ability to establish differential diagnosis of complex pathologies/ Capacity to selecte diagnostic auxiliary methods Ability to establish an adequate treatment plan/monitorize the pacient and act in medically compromised pacients/ ability to diagnose oral potentially malignant and malignant lesions/ Understand the role of the dentist in the identification of oral cancer risk factors, prevention and diagnosis/ Develop oral surgery clinical competencies/theoretically understand the subjects related to complex oral surgery
Syllabus:
Oral lichen planus, Diseases vesicle-bullous the oral cavity, inflammatory connective tissue disorders, tongue and lips pathology, oral manifestations of hematologic malignancies, benign neoplasms of the oral mucosa, precancerous lesions of the oral cavity, Pathology of the salivary glands. Principles and biopsy technique in the Oral Cavity, Cystic Pathology in jaws, dentoalveolar injuries, reimplantation, transplantation and dental Implants, Oral Surgery and Orthodontics, Pre-protetic surgery.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The theoretical syllabus are consistent with the goals of learning in this course, to the extent that allow the acquisition of knowledge and the development of clinical skills that are required for all activities they are involved in Oral Medicine and Surgery. The laboratory practice in clinical execution enables contact with unusual situations in daily practice of dentistry.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Knowledge is taught by theoretical lectures (T - 15 hours) (50% of the final grade with a minimum score of 10 values in each evaluation criteria, equivalent to 2 ECTS,). The laboratory practice (PL) in clinical performance (45 hours), worth another 50% of the grade (2 ECTS, also with minimum approval of 10 values, with the minimum acts per student of an extraction and a screening and diagnostic consultation, both with mandatory approval). The tutorial classes (OT - 7,5 hours) and other (O - 7,5 hours) will be used to supplement the theoretical concepts and carry out research work.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
Teaching methods have been developed to become the most effective and direct, allowing a teacher-student interaction more effective, for the acquisition of knowledge and core competencies in the daily practice of a dentist in the area of oral medicine and oral surgery.
