Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The student should be able to: Carry out the diagnosis of potentially malignant and malignant lesions of the oral cavity. Define the patients' treatment and referral.
Syllabus:
Oral Carcinogenesis Classification by stages Oncology epidemiology Diagnosis of potentially malignant lesions and their treatment Diagnosis of oral cancer Bases of oncologic surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy New therapeutic strategies: target therapies and immunotherapy Diagnosis and treatment of salivary glands Conduct of oral complications associated with oncological treatments Oral manifestations of haematological malignancies Odontogenic tumors
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
In teaching students the process of cancerization, dissemination routes, epidemiological aspects and forms of early diagnosis and control of oral cavity neoplasias, these students acquire the skills, in their post-graduate clinical practice, to be able to practice their activities as dentists in a society in which aging and risk-taking habits predominate.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Theoretical and theoretical-practical components. Pedagogical execution: exposition and debate of the relevant theoretical concepts in the classroom, the orientation of the autonomous study of the students by reference to the recommended bibliography. There will be two evaluation moments. Approval must be 10 points. If there is a test grade lower than 7.5 points the student goes to the final exam.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The exposition of the subjects, together with examples of clinical cases, allow the student to integrate in a more proficient way the contents addressed, reaching the objectives proposed in the curricular unit.
