Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit: | |||
Acquire knowledge and enable the development of skills that allow the students performing clinical procedures integrated in the diferents areas of dental medicine as well as providing scientific support to the understanding of techniques and materials, simple and advanced, fundamental for the diagnosis, planning and execution of the treatment, always with guidance of the teacher. This discipline is in the final part of the curriculum in the Dental School in order to simulate the clinical practice of an office of Dental Medicine, approaching the students as much as possible of external reality. | |||

Approach of themes in the areas of endodontics, with discussion of clinical cases; presentation of a sequence of clinical cases of oral rehabilitation, from unit rehabilitation to the most complex cases: planning and rehabilitation; discussion of the maxillary cyst approach; laser and its applications in dental medicine; computer health security; Oncological pathology of head and neck: reflect and know how to act; Violence against health professionals; Dementias; movement diseases; Dentistry: particularities of the clinical intervention of the elderly patient. | |||

The Integrated Clinic II aims to provide the student with the necessary knowledge and technical skills to a multidisciplinary approach in the different areas of Dental Medicine. This unit also aims to train the student regarding the development of the necessary clinical sense, regarding the diagnosis and the elaboration of a correct treatment plan, ultimately aiming at the integrated rehabilitation of the patient. In this curricular unit the student is oriented to research appropriate scientific bibliography references within the scope of themes proposed by the faculty of this curricular unit, thus promoting scientific reading, the development of critical capacity and contact with scientific nomenclature, as well as the motivation for the elaboration of research papers and scientific presentations within the discipline. | |||
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation): | |||
T (15h), PL (90h), OT (7, 5h) and O (7, 5h). T allows the student to acquire knowledge and enable the development of competencies for the clinical execution of integrated procedures in the main areas of dental medicine. In the LP will be performed the clinical care of patients to perform diagnosis, elaboration of an integral treatment plan and discussion with the professors and realization of the basic and advanced treatments needed. Theoretical component: 20% Practical component: 80% The approval of this curricular unit assigns 5 ECTS, and the minimum score of 10 values is mandatory in each of the evaluated components. The class assistance regime reports to the current pedagogical regulation. | |||
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes: | |||
In this course, through the Theoretical and Laboratory Practice components, students acquire essential information to be guided on clinical observation of patients, performing the integrated clinical diagnosis, require complementary diagnostic tests as appropriate and apply the best treatment. Basic and advanced clinical acts under the supervision of the teaching will be carried out . Continuous assessment allows the student to be aware of the progression of their skills and competences in the various components. The components Tutorial and Other guidance student sessions will be held in order to enable them to adequately use bibliographies, develop scientific research methods , exercise oral and written and deepen analytical skills, synthesis and systematization of knowledge within of the course. | |||
