Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Know the international and national legislation relating to the elderly and act according to it, safeguarding the fundamental rights of the elderly;
(Re) know the principles of the United Nations for the elderly; the enshrined in the Portuguese Constitution; as well as other existing under national law;
Outline the guiding principles of action with respect to the elderly, taking into account the legal regulations in force;
Meet the adopted measures of promotion of the rights of the elderly and of implementation of prevention and social protection of the elderly in the normative legal framework and vigor;
Develop in-depth knowledge, skills and attitudes in practice professionals in line with the ethical and legal requirements, a humanized perspective, the promotion of rights, prevention, evaluation and differentiated intervention, with the most aged age populations, in particular in which present greater bio-psycho-social vulnerability.

B. Discussion and Reflection on Implemented Systems of Promotion of Rights, Prevention and Protection of the Elderly
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The contents were defined in order to achieve the objectives and fulfill the unit organization established in the course of the overall structure, by selecting subjects as basic elements crucial for learning. Themes designed to address in an integrated way, the main legal and normative concepts inherent in governing the area of gerontology, thus creating conditions for integrating knowledge, skills and competencies for professional practice in a coherent way.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Methods: expositive and demonstrative, interrogative / active
Oral presentation of the syllabus
Active / participatory methodology, using audiovisual media and articles of relevance
The theoretical evaluation of the curricular unit is done through two moments:
i) Group work, writing and respective presentation and discussion in class, focusing on a thematic inherent to the programmatic contents;
ii) One individual written test, based on the syllabus contents, taught.
The minimum grade to be obtained for approval will be 10.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The confrontation with the subjects of the curricular unit can be facilitated by the use of images, reports, grafts of films or narratives in video, in order to facilitate the understanding of the knowledge, aptitudes and skills intended.
