Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
At the Clinical Teaching II it is intended that the student develops the ability to:
a)Apprehend, integrating in an effective way, the acquired knowledge, functioning and dynamics of the service;
b)Establish therapeutic relationships with the multidisciplinary team,;
c)Develop health education strategies;
d)Provide comprehensive care in the community;
e)Correctly implement the norms and treatment methodologies acquired
f)Demonstrate theoretical knowledge being able to integrate them into the clinical practice
g)Understand the organization and prioritization of health care
h)Apply data collection methodologies according to the institutional program
i)Demonstrate a critical-reflexive attitude towards the practice, developing the clinical reasoning
j)Integrate ethical and deontological concepts in the health care practice, developing a professional consciousness and identity
Syllabus:
The Clinical Practice II will be divided into 5 components:
I. Physiotherapy in the ambulatory setting: Patient general care; Musculoskeletal examination; Clinical intervention.
II. Physiotherapy in group context: Musculoskeletal examination; Strategies for education and intervention in group context.
III. Physiotherapy in elderly care: Anthropometric and musculoskeletal examination; Strategies for education and intervention in elderly care.
IV. Neuromusculoskeletal Examination: Rationale for the isokinetic evaluation; Neurophysiology, biomechanics and biological principles of training; Development and application of protocols.
V. Physiotherapy in Occupational health: enterprise and school context: Musculoskeletal and anthropometric evaluation; strategies towards a health education program.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The practical demonstration and training of the various evaluation techniques and procedures related to the clinical content, allows them to develop skills of technical implementation and development of different intervention strategies.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
In order to be able to objectify, as far as possible, the Final Classification of Clinical Practice II will correspond to the evaluation of all the teaching units, for this the student must deliver a detailed report at the end of each component, the final evaluation being calculated from the continuous assessment and evaluation report.
In accordance with the Pedagogical Regulations of the Fernando Pessoa University, the student is considered Approved if he obtains a minimum classification of 10 values
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The clinical intervention will be developed in different clinical contexts in order to improve the acquisition by the student of a theoretical and practical framework of the applyed principles, terminology, anatomy, biomechanics and physiology.
