Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The main goal is the acquisition of competences that allow the students to recognize general aspects of the main vegetal species used in Phytotherapy, grouping them by their main active principles and/or their application in the therapy of different clinical situations, and to correctly use the medicinal plants and/or preparations containing medicinal plants during their professional exercise.
Syllabus:
Acquisition of general knowledge in the area of Phytotherapy. Study of the characteristics of the main plant species used in Phytotherapy, grouped by their main active constituents and/or their application in the therapy of different clinical situations. Correct use of the medicinal plants and/or preparations containing medicinal plants.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The program contents are fully consistent with the learning objectives of the course. The workload of each of the content is also appropriated for the acquisition of knowledge and competences by the students.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Presentation of relevant theoretical concepts in the classroom, practical application of some concepts, and orientation of student’s self-study by analysis of recommended bibliography. Debate on actual and pertinent issues related to the matter exposed in the classroom.
Continuous assessment (according to the “Normativa Académica do Funcionamento das Licenciaturas e Mestrados Integrados da Universidade Fernando Pessoa”).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The teaching methodologies (theoretical exposition, debate, and orientation of self-study) are fully consistent with the learning objectives of the course. The workload of each of the content is also appropriated for the acquisition of knowledge and competences by the students.
