Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Intends to provide foundations for understanding the functioning of the human organism, at molecular, cellular, tissue, organic and systemic. The study of this discipline should enable the student to learn the most important aspects of Human Anatomy to allow later understand fundamental concepts in the area of the field of physical therapy.
PRACTICE
O1 Understand the organization of the human body.
O2 Identify and distinguish the structures that make up the integumentary system.
O3. Understand the general anatomy of the skeletal system.
O4. Distinguish joints, structures and associated movements.
O5. Understand the general anatomy of the muscular system.
O6. Recognize the interaction of the musculoskeletal system.
O7. Understand functioning of the nervous system.
O8. Apply knowledge of the integumentary and musculoskeletal system in interaction with the nervous system.
Syllabus:
Introduction to Anatomophysiology. Levels of human body’s organization. Cell and tissue: Structure and functions. Division of Anatomy. Reference planes. Direction and anatomical position. The skin – structure and functions. Effects of ageing on skin. Skeletal system: general anatomy, structure and functions of bones. Articulations and biomechanics of corporal movements, structure, type and functions of articulations. Muscular system – general anatomy, classification, structure and functions of muscles. Muscular contraction and relaxation. Nervous system – division of nervous system. Components of central nervous system and peripheral nervous system – structure and functions. Synapsis – structure and transmission of nerve impulse. Reflex arc. Types of reflexs. Splanchnology – morphology and physiology. Angiology.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The construction of the syllabus, with the approach of the morphological and functional aspects of the human organism, with theoretical information, theoretical-practical and practice the topics covered, including the use of appropriate resources, such as videos and manipulation of anatomical models, is appropriately suited to the process of learning the discipline of Human Anatomy in course physical therapy curriculum.
PRACTICE
C1 - Movement. It aims to reach O1, O3 to O6.
C2 - Integumentary system. It aims to reach O2, O7 and O8.
C3 - Skeletal system. It aims to reach O3, O6 and O8.
C4 - Joints. Aims to achieve O4, O6 and O8.
C5 - Muscular system. It aims to reach O5, O6 and O8.
C6 - Nervous system. It aims to reach O2, O7 and O8.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Theoretical Component (TC) consists on expository, descriptive and demonstrative lessons of the topics defined in the syllabus. Practical Component (PC) consists on teaching sessions that allow the observation, interpretation and manipulation of anatomic models.
Assessment is continuous and consists in two written tests in TC and two practical tests in PC. Students will be approved if their final classification is 09,50 or superior in both components.
The final classification results from 80% CT and 20% CP.

Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The teaching methodology focused on theoretical, theoretical-practical information and practice the topics covered, including the use of appropriate educational resources, such as videos and manipulation of anatomical models, is appropriately suited to the process of learning the discipline of Human Anatomy in physical therapy curriculum plan. PRACTICE M1 - Using the e-learning platform to store educational material that will be made available to the student: all objectives. M2 - The material provided will serve as support for the studies based on practical situations that will be introduced as a teaching-learning tool: O4, O6 and O8. M3 - Autonomous research activities that will be based on research and development issues: O1 to O3, O5 and O7. M4 - Development of activities of synthesis of the basic contents, after oral exposition, where the students will have a proactive involvement; all goals. M5 - Use of demonstration videos of phenomena linked to the studied structures to promote discussion of the inherent physiological foundations: O4, O6 and O8.
