Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The clinical practice’s II aim is to develop in the student skills and the capacity of good physiotherapy care, enclosing the patient/client, the family and the community. The aim is also to accurately select and execute the different techniques related to the subjects approached, in each clinical case identifying the indications and counter-indications of the selected techniques and develop a professional identity.
Syllabus:
a. Patient general care
b. Neuromuscular-Skeletal examination including but not limited to: goniometry, muscle testing, postural analysis and ergonomics, gait analysis, sensory evaluation, assessment of tone, evaluation according to various methods (Cyriax, Maitland, etc.)
c. Clinical intervention of therapeutic modalities including therapeutic exercise, corresponding to syllabus taught to date
d. Education of the patient / client and family
e. Participation in working with a multidisciplinary team (doctor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist, etc.).
f. Preparation of an updated document in written form - stage dossier that includes reports of patient / client, community activities, training, literature reviews
g. Participation in training activities in Fernando Pessoa Pedagogical Clinic and other educational institutions outside
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The practical demonstration and training of the various evaluation techniques and procedures related to the clinical content, allows them to develop skills of technical implementation and development of different intervention strategies and to develop the ability to further identify, in real context, what are the best practices to be performed on the patient by formulating an appropriate clinical reasoning.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The performance´s student in the clinical practice setting (40%), the final clinical report of the patients (45%) and the apresentation of a case study (15%).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The clinical intervention will be in different case studies in order to allow the acquisition by the student of theoretical and practical knowledge of the specific principles, terminology, anatomy, biomechanics and physiology learned.
