Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
To learn the basics theoretical and practical concepts of Immunohematology
To give knowledge and tools for a good performance in blood banking, in order to get quality and improvement in Transfusion Medicine.
Syllabus:
Review of Hematology basic concepts and methodologies, Genetics basis of Immunohematology, Immunological basics concepts in Immunohematology, Antigens – Antibody Reactions in blood cells, The ABO blood group. The Rh blood group. Other major blood groups systems, Blood donor selection, collection and processing. Component Preparation. Compatibility testing. Transfusion Therapy. Antibody Detection and Identification.Haemolytic Disease of the Newborn. Transfusion Therapy.Adverse Transfusion Reactions.
