Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The aim of the Clinical and Hospital Pharmacy is to provide basic and specific knowledge about the structure and organization of Pharmaceutical Services in the Hospital. Aspects related with the hospital pharmacist intervention and the importance of communication with other health professionals for the rational use of medicines in hospitals will be explored. Students should develop the capabilities to practice the pharmaceutical activity in hospital, such as pharmaceutical care; clinical pharmacy; hospital information; selection of medicines and pharmaceutical products; therapeutic monitoring; clinical pharmacokinetics; intervention in schemes and preparation of artificial nutrition; research and clinical trials; preparation of cytostatic products and radiopharmacy, selection and dispensing of medical devices and dressing and suture material. Thus, students will be able to meet the required specifications and develop the various activities of the Hospital Pharmacist.

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The knowledge about the organization and management of Pharmaceutical Services Hospital is essential to acquire the competencies needed to take on the pharmaceutical activity in functional areas, particularly selection, acquisition, storage, manipulation, distribution of drugs, medical devices and pharmaceutical preparations in the hospital; activities of clinical pharmacy. The students should learn to select the information to answer questions related to medications and communicating with other health professionals, in order to the rational use of medicines. The role of pharmaceutic participation in different activities will be addressed such as in clinical trials and in the preparation and control of formulations, including the artificial nutrition modules, cytotoxic and radiopharmaceuticals.
Students will be encouraged to explore situations that could occur in the Pharmaceutical Services, demonstrating the pharmaceutical intervention
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The lectures will be taught using the expository method of teaching and questioning. The concepts, theories and mechanisms that underlie the program will be presented in a succinct, organizational and descriptive manner. This exhibition will be accompanied where possible with appropriate audiovisual material. In order to acquire the necessary skills, students will be encouraged to deepen their knowledge and to seek its application in solving practical cases. When asked, the teacher will clarify the doubts and guide the student study. The assessment scheme will be continued. The assessment of the theoretical component will include assessing students in solving practical cases and two written evaluations.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
In order to acquire the appropriate skills, students will be encouraged to extend the knowledge acquired in the lectures and to look for its practical application. Continuous assessment and writing evaluations allows checking the knowledge and skills acquired by students. All activities with evaluative nature (ECTS) duly proportionate to the total number of credits will be awarded. The ECTS provided for work-study student will only be fully allocated or not, depending on the performance demonstrated by the student, in particular with respect to the acquisition of knowledge and skills covered.
