Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
In the end, the student must:
- Know the process of becoming ill mental
- Know the appointment of instruments of clinical data
- Identify the clinical data of objective and subjective nature
- Characterize the signs and symptoms of health / disease process
- Characterize the signs and symptoms that constitute mental illness
- Identify evidence of experiential process of mental sick
- Analyze the observed data
- Interpret the data with reference to the evidence, the patient's behavior pattern and / or clinical experience
- Adequate the nursing care depending on the specific drug therapy
- Collaborate in electroconvulsive therapy
- Identify evidence of different treatment processes
- Understand the therapeutic mechanisms of action in self use
- Know how to use the self as a therapeutic tool
- Understand the therapeutic mechanisms of action of different intervention techniques
Syllabus:
1. Concepts: Health / Mental Illness, Adaptation to stress.
2. Fundamentals: Theoretical models, Ethics and law, Culture and spirituality.
3. Therapeutic Approaches: Relationship and therapeutic communication, Intervention with Families, Crisis Intervention, Relaxation Therapy, Assertiveness training, Promotion of self-esteem, Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy, Psycho-pharmacology, Complementary Therapies.
4. Nursing care to patients with changes in psychosocial adaptation: Disorders of infancy and childhood and adolescence, Delirium, Dementia, Amnesic disorders, Disorders related to substances, Psychotic disorders, Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders, Somatoform and dissociative disorders, Sexuality issues, Eating disorders, Personality disorders.
5. Populations with special needs: The old people, Victims of abuse or neglect, The individual mourner.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
Topics such as "basic nursing concepts in Mental Health and Psychiatric" and "Foundations for Nursing in Mental Health and Psychiatric" contribute to the reflectivity of goals on the guiding principles of the practice of Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing. Themes "Therapeutic approaches in nursing care in Mental Health and Psychiatric", "Nursing care to patients with changes in psychosocial adaptation" and "Populations with special needs" are essential for students to acquire the basic knowledge necessary to understand the mechanisms mental functioning that underlie the behavioral manifestations and to frequently relational distortions and are able to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of the patient's psychiatric condition.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The teaching and learning methods will be adapted each time according to the students and the teaching of the subject. Generally, the teaching methods will be directors (exhibition and demonstration) and semidiretivos (interrogative).
The realization and presentation in classroom group work will also be a methodology for the study of some of the themes.
As the theme, the classes will be taught by nurses or psychiatrists, thus providing a broader range of knowledge to students.
Will be made two written individual tests (80% of the final grade), and a working group, presented in the classroom context (20% of the final grade). The student will succeed at UC with a minimum grade of 10 points.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The use of expository teaching methodology aims to provide the basic knowledge to students. With methodologies such as demonstrative and interrogative, students are helped to look for their own answers to the questions that arise about the issues under study, always with the support of the teacher to reflection.
