Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
1º Provide knowledge about the different meanings and concepts of culture, understanding these
in the different theoretical perspectives of Anthropology;
2nd To provide knowledge about the concepts of Ethnocentrism; enculturation, acculturation,
interculturalism and multiculturalism;
3rd Provide skills for the application of knowledge acquired by objectives 1 and 2
within the scope of the debate on the dualities Universalism/Cultural Relativism and norm/deviation.
4 º Provide knowledge about the main theoretical frameworks attached to the study of
youth cultures and their characteristics.

Comparison between the Brazilian and Portuguese criminal system

1. The concept of Culture
Different meanings and theoretical frameworks
2. Concepts of Ethnocentrism; enculturation; Acculturation; interculturalism and multiculturalism.
Cultural dynamics, the norm and the deviation
3. The universalism/relativism duality and identity
The potential and costs of each position.
4. Concept of youth
Theoretical perspectives and characteristics of youth subcultures

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The coherence between the learning objectives is demonstrated by the explicit correspondence between
the 4 points by which the learning objectives are stated and the respective 4 points that
configure the syllabus.

The syllabus in its various aspects, reflect, the major issues that put in parallel culture and crime and on the other hand they compare the two legal / penal systems and Brazilian Portuguese.
The question of migratory movements associated with international crime, are addressed of the Schengen system point of view as to its legal framework, but also to the combat of trafficking in human beings and assistance to illegal immigration.
The issue of the Islamic State provides the opportunity for the analysis of Islamic legal / penal systems in comparison with Western and democratic ones .

Expository and active method.

Tratando-se de uma UC inserida em 2º ciclo e recurso aos métodos expositivo e ativo, permite, não só expor os conhecimentos que os alunos deverão adquirir, mas também promover a reflexão, debate e comunicação sobre aos temáticas lecionadas. _____________________________________________ Because it is a master's degree course, the methodology is based mainly on the presentation of cases, debate and analysis, calling for the active participation of all students. The use of audio-visual means is also preferred.
