Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
(i) To integrate methods, techniques, concepts, models, theories and knowledge in the area of psychological intervention with victims;
(ii) To acquire, develop and deepen knowledge and skills to perform psychological intervention;
(iii) To select appropriate methods and techniques for intervention with victims;
(iv) To determine relevant characteristics of individuals and groups important for intervention;
(v) To improve oral and written communication skills;
(vi) To develop a critical attitude and self-criticism, as well as to adopt ethical values.

1. Introductory remarks on prevention and psychological intervention. 1.1.Prevention: concepts and types. 1.2. Theories and models of prevention. 1.3. Challenges inherent to the intervention with victims. 1.4. Technical and personal skills of professionals. 1.5. Organizations and projects in support of victims
2. Prevention programs and psychological intervention: general considerations. 2.1. Prevention and psychological intervention with juvenile victims (individual and group). 2.1.1. Physical abuse and neglect; 2.1.2. Children exposed to interparental violence; 2.1.3. Victims of sexual abuse; 2.1.4. Multiple Child and Youth Victimization; 2.1.5. Violence in Youth Intimate Relationships. 2.2. Prevention and psychological intervention with adult victims (individual and group). 2.2.1. Victims of rape; 2.2.2. Domestic violence victims 2.3. Other proposals for the prevention and psychological intervention
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
1st unit - Syllabus contents focus on specific theoretical issues in the area of psychological intervention with victims, thus enabling the fulfillment of the course objectives, specifically: to integrate knowledge, skills and abilities so as to have a technical and ethical conduct; to master the main techniques and methods used in psychological intervention;
2nd unit - Syllabus contents focus on the practical application of models, theories and knowledge in the area of psychological intervention, thus enabling the fulfillment of the course objectives, namely: to select and apply methods and techniques appropriate to forensic psychological assessment; to demonstrate oral and written communication skills; to show autonomy and responsible conduct.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Teaching methodology will include theoretical lecturing, research, reading and discussion of specific references, as well as thematic debating and critical reflection. Assessment will be continuous, based on the analysis of cases by themes and respective presentation of intervention proposals and a written test (40%) and the realization of one practical work based on the case, to be presented and discussed orally (60%).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
1st unit - Theoretical exposition of contents the performance area; Presentation and handling of materials used in psychological intervention; Individual and group debate of cases illustrating different problems with the aim of demonstrating knowledge and skills in psychological intervention; 2nd unit - Presentation of real cases (anonymous); Handling of materials used in the psychological intervention of each specific case; Individual and group execution of intervention proposals for each case; oral presentation of expert of the proposals in order to be able to integrate the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the psychological assessment; to demonstrate oral and written communication skills; to show autonomy and responsible conduct in practice.
