Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Introduce R&D in Information Technologies and Systems. Present the global challenges in R&D related with Information Technologies and Systems as well the some of the most relevant issues and practices related to the production of new knowledge in Information Technologies and Systems.
Provide an overview of the current challenges in R&D in the area and discuss available approaches to produce knowledge associated with systems and information technology.
Syllabus:
This seminar is part of the Doctoral program at University Fernando Pessoa for the Information Science specialty. The main issues regarding advanced research within Systems and Information Technology are introduced. The specific research approaches to explore possibilities and application of computers and networks are briefly presented and discussed. A number of relevant topics are specifically mentioned as case studies for a more concrete discussion, based on the professor experience and research.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The Systems and Information Systems themes are discussed based on the work and research made available on the field as well as a number of more frequent methodologies that are briefly introduced. The seminar is focused in the sharing of good practices for future students’ autonomous further exploration.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
None evaluation is considered. The class presentation is based on the exposition of selected works and supported on discussion considering the students research areas in the systems and technology framework.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The class adopts a strategy of a research clinic following an interaction process to support student work and to develop their autonomy and group sharing, using a number of tools to support activity.
