Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Knowledge and skills:
- Define the scope of operations management, logistical management and supply chain management;
- Understand the scope of operations management within the functions of an organization and to recognize its contribution in achieving strategic objectives;
- Identify the structure of a queuing system, and calculate and analyse performance measures of those system
- Use operations and projects planning techniques;
- Characterize the functions and activities of logistics;
- Explain the dynamics of the supply chain, and the advantages of aggregate planning of supply chain;
- Apply network techniques to transport planning.
Competences:
- Ability to participate actively and effectively in operations and logistics management;
- Ability to solve problems;
- Ability to summarize and communicate the results, orally and in management reports;
- Ability to work independently.

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The syllabus presented covers the essential areas of knowledge and consistently achieves the objectives. In particular, at a conceptual level, allowing to understand concepts and to use language related to Operations Management, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and in practical terms, to use methods and techniques that enable them to adequately operationalize those concepts.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The course resorts to theoretical presentations, conceptual clarification, and calculations. Lessons combine theory and practice, and case-study scenarios are analysed. Assessment is based on two midterm tests (45% + 45%), and homework (10%).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
The combination of theoretical presentations and problem-solving tasks enables students to acquire specific theoretic knowledge in operations and logistics management, as well as to practice its application to specific case-scenarios.
