Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
The main objectives of the seminar are:
- To know, in a systematic and evolutionary way, the stages of transition from the traditional documentalist dimension of the discipline to the emergence of Information Science and respective currents;
- To understand and discuss the fundamental issues of the historical and epistemological turning of Information Science as a branch of autonomous knowledge;
- To become aware of current research issues and issues in CI;
- To promote the delimitation of objects of study, design the research project and the planning of research activities.

1. Epistemology of Information Science
2. Transdisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity of CI
3. The themes of Information Science
4. Current research and scientific production trends
5. The scientific, professional dimension and new skills
6. Research methodology in CI.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
In this seminar, the main themes, problems and the research methodologies in CI, with the perspective of providing students with an understanding of the current panorama of development of the discipline. Each point of the program will feature the launch of questions, critically examining the possibilities for response. The brainstorming will be raised at the prospect of engaging PhD students.

As a curricular unit fundamentally theoretical, lectures are supplemented with student research and materialized in the reflections and analyzes (brainstorming) produced in the classroom and the completion and presentation of the research paper.
