Origins of Information Science. The interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary
dimension. Similarities and differences between IS and the others Social Sciences.
Disciplinary problems. The professional dimension and the new skills. Research

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
- To understand and discuss the historical and epistemological routes of Information Science as autonomous branch of knowledge.
- Multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary dimensions.
- To understand the traditional dimension and the «new» informational dimension established with the Information and Communication Technologies.

The classes are theoretical and practical, focus on problematizing approach to the thematic units of Information Science today, by reading and analysising scientific information sources.
