Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
It is intended that the student is able to identify potential risk factors in sport, being able to develop a plan of treatment and prevention for the various injuries of the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems applying them in real clinical situations.
The student must integrate knowledge and apply it in clinical sports practice and self- oriented and independent research.
Syllabus:
1 ) Sporting activity among children and young people : effect on anthropometrics , nutrition and harmful aspects in athletes;
2 ) The most common injuries
3 ) Primary care intervention
4 ) Assessment of the athletes
5 ) Therapeutic techniques sport specific
6 ) Recovery and integration of athletes in their sports
7 ) The sportsman and the ' pathology '
8 ) The action of the physical therapist in various modalities
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
All the contents are related to the anatomic and physiological adaptations due to sports practice. This will lead to an accurate assessment by the physical therapist and underlying treatment approach. This allows the students to be able to cope with problematic situations in sports from the point view of clinical or scientific point of view, providing it greater autonomy in their approaches.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Includes expository and / or discussion format classes with the presentation of case studies along with the practice specific techniques for evaluation and treatment in physiotherapy.
The evaluation will be continuous through the written and practical mini-tests.

The expository and / or discussion format classes with the presentation of case studies along with the practice specific techniques for evaluation and treatment in sports physiotherapy allows to provide the students with specific and essential to the physiotherapists in sports, contributing to their increased clinical and scientific autonomy.
