Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Students will demonstrate knowledge of different concepts and techniques relevant to the intervention of a physiotherapist in sports. Apply the acquired knowledge in new contexts and situations within different sports practices, integrating this knowledge in order to deal with complex issues. Integrate the knowledge and apply them in sports clinical practice and research u in a self-directed and autonomous way.
Provide students with the biological basis of Nutrition in Sports.
Provide knowledge about the understanding of specific energy and nutritional needs of each individual and according to age, gender, level of physical activity.
Raise awareness of the importance of body composition assessment

Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The integration of concepts of Movement Analysis, new techniques of taping as well as sports Nutrition, allows a better integration of the physical therapist in the sports environment, enabling him to cope with increasingly demanding and complex issues, both clinically and professionally, making him increasingly autonomous from a technical and scientific standpoint.
The student should be able to:
- analyse the movement, using computerized analysis or 3D kinematics
- understand the importance of movement analysis in sports practice;
- to identify the physiological dimensions of the different individuals and their respective differences in their nutritional needs;
- to distinguish the assessment indicators of body composition throughout these phases of life;
- evaluate, select and apply the best functional bandage or dynamic tape, according to evaluation;
- be able to use different strategies for analysis, evaluation and treatment
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Includes expository and / or discussion format classes with the presentation of case studies along with the practice specific techniques for evaluation and treatment in physiotherapy.
The evaluation will be continuous through the written and practical mini-tests.

The expository and / or discussion format classes with the presentation of case studies along with the practice specific techniques for evaluation and treatment in sports physiotherapy allows to provide the students with specific and essential to the physiotherapists in sports, contributing to their increased clinical and scientific autonomy.
