Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This course aims to increase the knowledge about the physiological assessment and sports training methods, applying them in the context of sports performance. The students should demonstrate the ability to collect, select and interpret relevant information in the area of Medical Assessment and Sports Physiology, applying it in new contexts and situations within different sports. Students will learn to integrate the knowledge from Medical Evaluation and Sports Physiology and apply them in the clinical, sports and research practice in a self-directed and autonomous manner, developing in the students a critical and scientific reasoning.

Theoretical-practical: 1.Risk Assessment, 1.1 Principles of risk assessment, 1.2 Tools for Risk Assessment, 2.Training and its foundations, 2.1 Principles of training, 2.2 Workout modalities, 2.3 Indicators of external load and its vectors, 2.4 Planning and periodization, 3.Physiological responses to exercise, 3.1 Acute responses, 3.2 Chronic Responses, 3.3 Environmental influences and performance, 3.4 Hormonal influence and performance, 4. Metabolic training, 4.1 Cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic adaptations to training, 4.2 Metabolic training, 5.Neuromuscular training 5.1 Equilibrium and coordination training, 5.2 Strength training, 5.3 Electrostimulation, 6. Physical assessment methodologies.
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The theoretical-practical concepts were designed to develop knowledge about the physiological assessment, concepts and adaptations within the sports training and applying them in the context of sports performance in the practice and scientific research of different sports.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Includes expository and/or discussion format classes with the presentation of case studies and scientific papers.
The final score is calculated taking into account the continuous assessment trought a wrtitten exam (70%) and a group work (30%).
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
Theoretical-practical: The different themes, presentation of case studies and scientific studies in the classroom will be transmitted in an expository and /or discussion format to allow the acquisition by the student of theoretical knowledge, principles and terminologies integrated into the Medical Evaluation and Sports Physiology of Stress. This strategy facilitates the application of knowledge in the clinical, sports and research practice, contributing to their self-directed study and future practice and scientific autonomy.
