Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
Know the evolution of child care and significant improvements in health with the advancement of medical sciences and a new look at "being a child"; Identify health indicators in Pediatrics and decisive factors for its positive evolution; Identify the stages of child growth and development according to expected age patterns and warning signs at the physical, cognitive and sensory motor levels; Learning to communicate with the Child Youth Family appropriate to the age and culture; Recognize nursing interventions that maximize the adaptation and recovery of the Child /Youth /Family in situations of illness and hospitalization, such as acute and chronic illness and disability;Value anticipatory care in the promotion and prevention of health in partnership with the family and community; Recognize the partnership with the Child Youth Parents in the Care process, enhancing their autonomy. Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
The program contents were designed to respond to the objectives outlined and to enable students to take care of the child / young person in partnership with the family, in any context and to promote the best possible health status. It is intended that students recognize the specificity of care for the Child / Youth considering Children up to 18 years old. The student must relate the positive evolution of pediatric care with the improvement of child health indicators, the publication of legislation favorable to the rights of the child and the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of families and the community. The student must know and value early care in health promotion and disease prevention, the appreciation of parents / significant person as the main caregivers, and their fundamental role in preserving the safety and well-being of the child and family and maximizing the child's growth and development potential.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
The assessment is continuous. The methods will be expository and interrogative in the classroom. Reading of fundamental works in Pediatric Nursing will be advised, and referring to the DGS programs in the area of ??Child Health, such as the National Vaccination Program, the National Program for Child and Youth Health, the Practical Guide to Approach, Diagnosis and Intervention in Bad Children -tracts, DGS guidelines, among others. In the practical aspect, some specific procedures in Pediatric Nursing will be addressed. The summative assessment will be made through a frequency test and exam tests. In the evaluation by frequency, the test will have a weighting of 100% in the final classification. The evaluation by frequency and evaluation by exam will take the form of written tests, with the exception of the appeal and / or improvement exams that may still take the oral form, according to the evaluation regime in force. The student will be approved with a minimum grade of 10 points.

There should be an effective articulation between objectives, content and methodology so that the student can succeed in the uc.With the demonstrative methodology is intended to provide students with the basic knowledge of the discipline and with the interrogative method students are helped to seek answers to questions On the themes under study, with the constant support of the teacher. The strategies have to adapt to the diverse styles of learning of the students and used in function of the available resources. Being the central student in the process and privileged actor of his learning, methodologies are proposed that allow the acquisition of the conceptual tools and the development of the capacities of intellectual curiosity, objectivity, methodical doubt, critical analysis, decision making and evaluation. Success in the curricular unit is achieved in a superior way if the student does a thorough study of the various contents of the program in his own hours of work.
