Learning Outcomes of the Curricular Unit:
This curricular unit aims to give a conceptual and global framework, searching for development of knowledge, capacities and competencies on personal development. (i) Know how to describe and explain concepts in the field of personal development; (ii) Develop the ability for self-reflection and emotional management in human relations as a strategy of personal and professional training; (iii) Know how to apply and integrate the determinants of behavioral interaction in the development of personal and professional development strategies; (iv) Develop skills to act as a mediator with individuals and groups; (v) Interpersonal and intergroup communication skills;
Syllabus:
1st Unit - 1. Knowledge of self and others. 1.1. Human development and social interaction. 1.2. Representation of itself and the social world 1.3. Personal development process and strategies. 2nd Unit – 2. Interpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence. 2.1. Conceptualizations 2.2. Approach to skills development. 2.3. Emotional intelligence. 3rt Unit – 3. Communication and health 3.1. Conceptualizations 3.2. Communication process and communications styles. 3.3. Conflict management and negotiation strategies
Demonstration of the Syllabus Coherence with the Curricular Unit's Objectives:
1st unit - Syllabus contents focus on specific concepts and theoretical issues in the area of Human development and social interaction: thus meeting course objectives, namely: to understand and integrate concepts and models of the conceptual study of Knowledge of self and others. 2st unit - Syllabus contents focus on specific theoretical issues in the area of Interpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence, meeting the course objectives, namely: to integrate knowledge, abilities leading up to a conceptual analysis and systematization of interpersonal skills. 3nd unit - Syllabus contents focus on specific theoretical issues in the area of communication and human relations, meeting the course objectives, namely: to integrate knowledge, abilities leading up to a conceptual analysis and systematization of communications process, conflicts management and negotiations strategies.
Teaching Methodologies (Including Evaluation):
Teaching methodology will include theoretical lecturing, research, reading and discussion of specific references, as well as thematic debates and critical reflection. Assessment will be continuous and based on a written test (60%), a practical essay, an oral presentation and work discussion (30%), as well as the execution of theoretical and practical tasks (10%) in the classroom, including students’ participation.
Demonstration of the Coherence between the Teaching Methodologies and the Learning Outcomes:
1st unit - Theoretical exposition of contents related to this study area; presentation and handling of materials used in the study of human development and social interaction; Individual and group debate of cases illustrating different issues about the representation of itself and the social world. 2st unit – Theoretical exposition of contents related to theoretical issues in the area of Interpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence; Presentation and handling of materials used in social interaction; Case studies debates on the interpersonal and social relations; Individual and group debate. 3rd unit – Theoretical exposition of contents related to theoretical issues in the area of Communication and human relations.. 3.3.; Presentation and handling of materials used in communication process and communications styles; Case studies debates on communication issues; Individual and group debate of cases about conflict management and negotiation strategies.
